JOHN J. HESSION, born Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Admitted to bar: New York (1981); U.S. District Court: Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (1981); U.S. Court of Appeals: Second (1981), Third (1988), Sixth (1986) and Eleventh (1986) Circuits. Education: Columbia University (B.A., 1977); New York Law School (J.D., 1980). Member: The Association of the Bar of the City of New York; American Bar Association; Maritime Law Association of the United States (Proctor); United States Lifesaving Association; United States Power Squadron (1st Lt., National Law Committee 1995-Present).
Mr. Hession's practice focuses on trial practice in New York State and Federal Courts for cases involving, personal injury defense, products liability, insurance coverage, criminal defense, admiralty and marine matters. In addition, he has drafted and participated in the acquisition of insurance companies that require licensing by the New York State Insurance Department. He has also acted as counsel in cases involving hull and collision, charter parties and recreational boating accidents. Mr. Hession is a member of the National Law Committee of the United States Power Squadron and has lectured on marine subjects throughout his career.
